Sea trout season has started in Turkey

For several years now, Sputnik has been introducing chilled sea trout to Russian consumers, supplying directly from the Black Sea region of Turkey, where it is called “Black Sea trout” or “Turkish salmon”.

Turkey is the largest producer of trout in Europe and the second largest in the world. The country has ideal aquaculture conditions for both lake and sea trout.

The best conditions for growing sea trout in Turkey are in the Black Sea, as the water temperatures in the Mediterranean, Aegean and Marmara seas are not very favorable.

While the lake trout fishing season lasts all year round, the sea trout fishing season starts in March and ends in June, depending on the water temperature.

Fish farms in Turkey's Black Sea region have cages all along the coast where fish are raised. "Turkish salmon" is exported all over the world, and every year the production volumes are growing, and this year Turkish producers plan to reach a volume of 50 thousand tons (sea trout).

When comparing Norwegian salmon with "Black Sea trout", the big advantage is that the nutritional value of these two fish is very close to each other, while "Turkish salmon" is cheaper compared to Atlantic salmon. Turkish producers even claim that rainbow trout, called "Turkish salmon" and farmed in the Central Black Sea region, has a better value in terms of total unsaturated fatty acids, total omega-3s important for human health, compared to Atlantic salmon.

Sea trout attracts our customers, who every year look forward to the start of the Black Sea trout season.

The sea trout season will last only about 3 months.

Hurry up to get "Turkish salmon".
